[ARCHIVED] Dover Parks & Rec: Athletic Fields Status Update

Satellite image of athletic fields play status: Green=Open, Blue=Caution, Red=Closed

The Multi-Purpose Field (i.e. soccer/lacrosse/field hockey) at Caryl Park is OPEN.

All Multi-Purpose Fields (i.e. soccer/lacrosse) at the Chickering Playfields are OPEN WITH CAUTION.

  • OPEN WITH CAUTION means all coaches and league officials will keep the following guidelines in mind:
    • If it begins to rain, has recently rained, or if you observe soft spots, water seeping up when walking, or standing water, you must close the field and cancel any practice or game that is scheduled.
    • Coaches are responsible for checking field conditions prior to every game or practice
    • Pay close attention to infield conditions, as these areas are more susceptible to becoming unplayable. If the infield is too muddy or has standing water, games must be canceled.
    • If conditions allow, practices may still be held using the outfield only, but only if it is safe and playable.

The Baseball and Softball Diamonds at both Chickering Playfields and Caryl Park are CLOSED.

  • PLEASE RESPECT ALL FIELD DECISIONS, AND KEEP-OFF OF CLOSED FIELDS.

For any questions regarding your specific team practice or game schedule, you will need to contact your coach or league officials.

All Dover Parks & Recreation Department field decisions are FINAL and WILL STAND UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, with updates being posted whenever necessary, but typically on weekdays between 12:00 - 1:00pm.
